The Impact flock is approaching 20 years of producing show lambs and quality breeding stock that have withstood the test of time. We’ve been fortunate enough over the years to have many banners presented to our lambs at every level of competition. My wife Jayci, daughter Tierney, son Calvin and I all share a passion for the livestock business and particularly the club lamb industry. It all started with a very humble beginning. As a young family just trying to get by in the early 90’s, I got a call from a very good friend, Dave Annuschat of Kingfisher, OK, telling me he was ready to sell the entire set of mature ewes. I met Dave in the mid 1980’s and developed a great friendship with him and an appreciation for the type of sheep he was raising. Dave, his wife Deb, sons Doug and Darrin had been breeding a very high quality set of heavy muscled, structurally correct Hampshire club lambs. Initially, the call was pretty disappointing to hear Dave was selling out. What I didn’t expect at the time was for Dave to tell me he wanted us to purchase the set of ewes. At that point Jayci and I were renting an apartment in town and raising two young kids. We took a leap of faith and pulled the trigger, purchased the ewes, traded our apartment for old farm house and a small barn a couple miles away and Impact Hamps LLC was born.

Fast forward to 2010… A lot of things have changed in our lives and many trends in the industry have come and gone. And at times, it has been a challenge to stay focused on what we’ve always thought to be the “right kind.” We’ve been diligent and consistent; breeding the type of sheep we like: stucturally correct, wide based, shallow yet wide bodied, and smooth shouldered. We’ve always been known to have some of the best racked sheep in the industry, and over the past several years, we’ve incorporated another muscle component to the design which has given our sheep tremendous dimension to the entire body. We have worked carefully to utilize the highest quality breeding stock that we’ve bred or purchased from prominent breeders over the years to build a consistent, predictable breeding program that works to produce major winners and genetics for others. It’s our passion to produce the right kind of sheep that keep our customers coming back year after year. As you view our website and winners’ page, you’ll notice major winners produced year after year. 

Lastly, it would be an injustice not to mention that our programs success would never have happened if it wasn’t for the friends who come back consistently to support our program. You are the ones in the end that ultimately make it happen. A sign hangs in our living room stating, “When you get there, remember where you came from.” We are not sure we are there yet, but the friendships we have built with people from all over the country have enriched our lives.
